Personalized education, nature and autonomy
Our Mission
Our Mission is to offer a personalized, motivating, enriching education based on contact with nature, which allows each child to develop their autonomy, choose their own path and develop at their own pace.
Our Vision
In Pequeños Exploradores we support the development of our students through a holistic and enriching education that brings them closer to their natural environment, with the hope that these children will become leaders in their communities and defenders of the environment in Chile.
The Montessori Philosophy
In the Montessori methodology, the prepared environment is that physical and psychological space in which the child can find everything he needs for his self-construction and development process.
The Physical Space
The physical space is distributed in a child-friendly way, meaning that we use furniture (shelves, tables and chairs), tools and learning materials adapted to the height, weight and strength of the children of the program. All of the Montessori learning materials of the different areas are always available to the students so that they have the freedom to use the materials when they like, within the orderly structure of the environment. The Montessori learning materials are intentionally and scientifically designed to develop the child’s independence, self-esteem, knowledge and intelligence.
The Prepared Environment
The prepared environment is a welcoming, cozy space in which Montessori didactic materials are intentionally placed so that each child learns and develops their skills according to their unique rhythm.
Our group of guides are trained and experienced to work with children both inside and in nature, following their interests and needs, accompanying the learning process closely and individually. Daily activities are planned to facilitate each child’s unique learning process. In addition, the group of guides prioritizes developing close relationships with the children’s families to work together on the development of their son or daughter.
Our Philosophy
Patagonian Environment
Learning to live through nature, play, and exploration.
Pequeños Exploradores and Patagonia are ideal spaces to enjoy and unwind. Community and nature are keywords to summarize this beautiful project. We see the ability to explore nature as a basic human right.
Be Natural
The possibility of having contact with nature from a young age is a unique opportunity for every human being. Hopefully all boys and girls have the possibility of having this special relationship: to be able to continue existing as a species, to be able to locate ourselves in the universe, to know where we are and where we are going. We live in a moment and time to which we owe respect. We are just one piece of a system that is much bigger than us.
Educating for Peace
We live in the present of the boys and girls who participate in Pequeños Exploradores. We are concerned for the “today” of childhood, for the well-being of their childhood. Here they can live and have experiences of heart, body and mind. We promote respect for others and for the community. We educate for peace and a better world. Our understanding of peace is closely linked to nature and diversity.
Personalized Model
We carefully observe the reality of each child to deliver the appropriate materials for their development at a given time, as this is one of the fundamental aspects of the Montessori method.
Children always want to learn. In freedom that desire expresses itself naturally. At Pequeños Exploradores, children have the freedom to challenge themselves in nature. We believe that the correct amount of risk contributes to the development of children’s self-esteem. We promote the possibility of spontaneous interaction between peers and between children of different ages. That interaction takes space and time.
Collaboration and Respect
The space where these relationships occur is simple and natural: we play in the forest, we explore the mountain and we work in the houses. All the games in the forest have been created by families and that is very significant for the children. They watched as their families built the tree house and castle.
The world requires collaboration, love and respect.
